In Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Nebula finally breaks the cycle of abuse
When she was introduced as a Marvel villain in Guardians of the Galaxy, I didn’t think much of Nebula. The trope of the ‘evil sister’ filled to the brim with resentment had been done countless times before, and even when she had a little redemption arc in the end, I rolled my eyes. For me, it felt all too predictable and shallow.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” the conclusion to Marvel’s trilogy about an extraterrestrial crew of misfits, kicked off with $114 million in its domestic box office debut. Those ticket sales rank as the second-biggest opening weekend of the year, behind “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” with $146 million. Despite the towering figure, the film ever-so-slightly missed expectations of $120 million and arrived considerably behind its predecessor, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” which debuted to $146 million in 2017.

Who are you, really? That question is at the core of Marvel’s new series, Secret Invasion, which follows Samuel L. In a traditional espionage story, these might be operatives from hostile rival nations, but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe the infiltration has an otherworldly origin: shapeshifting green-skinned extra-terrestrials known as Skrulls, who can perfectly simulate any human being at will. Figuring out who is who becomes especially daunting.

Marvel celebrates Stan Lee’s 100th birthday with full-page tribute
Marvel Comics is celebrating what would be Stan Lee’s 100th birthday this month with a full-page tribute in every comic. Stan Lee passed away at 95 on November 12th, 2018. The art doesn’t have an artist attributed to it, but if I were to guess, it’d be Humberto Ramos. It features Stan Lee standing at the center of many heroes and villains, looking proud, starstruck, and excited to see him. None of the characters look sad, although Ego does look like he’s shedding a tear.

The MCU’s Phase 4 was a messy but necessary experiment
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special have closed out Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the shortest, longest, weirdest phase yet in Marvel Studios’ ongoing experiment in building a cinematic dynasty. It’s the shortest, because pandemic delays meant it lasted less than two full years, but the longest because it encompassed seven movies, eight TV series, and two one-off specials.
